GP Training

We are an approved GP training practice which means that we help train GPs of the future as part of our commitment to provide excellent standards of care in the community. GP Registrars are qualified doctors who have already worked in a number of hospital departments (specialties) before entering General Practice, but who need further experience of working in primary care before they are able to join the Royal College of General Practitioners. Each GP Registrar works at the practice for either 6 or 12 months at a time.

We also help train "Foundation doctors." These are qualified doctors who have previously worked in local hospitals and are now getting experience working at a GP surgery before they decide which area of medicine they wish to specialise in. Each Foundation doctor works at the practice for 4 months.
Dr Richmond is the trainer in the practice and supervises our GP Registrars and Foundation Doctors. Currently we have Dr Kate Robson as our GP registrar working with us from April 2018 for three months. Dr Richmond also works one day a week as a GP Educator for Severn GP Training Deanery running tutorials and teaching sessions for groups of GPs in training.
